Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low‑cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single‑configuration, heavy‑lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low‑Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human‑capable. This position reports to New Glenn’s Payload Accommodations production engineering team. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will be performing production testing of ordnance‑actuated mechanical separation systems and coordinating manufacturing activities for energetic device assemblies.

This will require participation in test execution, work order management, materials procurement, test set‑up and configuration, and manufacturing coordination.

Responsibilities
  • Execute production acceptance tests on ordnance‑actuated mechanical systems in accordance with approved test procedures.
  • Manage work orders, materials procurement, and test scheduling for production test campaigns.
  • Configure test set‑ups, fixtures, and instrumentation per test plans and standards.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities for energetic device assemblies and ordnance components.
  • Conduct hands‑on testing involving pyrotechnic devices, high‑pressure gas systems, and mechanical separation hardware.
  • Maintain test equipment, tooling, and testing area cleanliness and readiness.
  • Ensure all operations are performed safely, on time and in a professional manner.
  • Work with test, flight and safety critical hardware, tools, and shop equipment.
  • Conduct and/or oversee several test projects simultaneously while supporting production schedules.
  • Identify, communicate, and mitigate cost, schedule, and technical risks.
  • Support development of test procedures and acceptance criteria documentation.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on acquisition of test materials and consumables.
  • Have frequent inter‑organizational interactions on production test status and hardware disposition.
  • Work independently to determine and develop approaches to solutions.
  • Contribute to the mentoring & training of other personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years of applicable experience with hands‑on assembly and test of aerospace hardware or systems, and production test campaign execution.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
  • Ability to utilize test instrumentation and control components: pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves, etc.
  • Experience working directly with high‑energy systems (ordnance, high‑pressure gas, high voltage, or cryogenics).
  • Direct experience executing production or qualification tests with emphasis on mechanical, structural, or pyrotechnic systems.
  • General knowledge of test execution, instrumentation, and manufacturing coordination.
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Physics or related technical subject area.
  • Experience with work order management, materials procurement, and production scheduling.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Washington state licensed blaster or willingness to obtain blaster certification.
  • Experience with ordnance handling and safety procedures.
  • Experience with manufacturing coordination for energetic or pyrotechnic assemblies.
  • Experience with NI Labview / Test Stand, Matlab, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA.
