This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products.

To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. To this end, our first MK1 Lunar Lander christened “Endurance” will be the largest and most complex vehicle ever to land on the moon.

Our second MK1 will continue humanity’s exploration of the Lunar south pole by delivering NASA’s VIPER rover. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers you will apply your systems engineering, fluids, and propulsion expertise within the MK1 Fluids Systems Engineering team. You will use natural leadership and organizational skills and share a commitment to quality to positively impact the bold missions at Blue Origin.

Responsibilities

Include But Are Not Limited To
  • Work at significant technical depth on complex subsystems with some oversight as part of the Fluids and Propulsion Integrated Product Team (IPT)
  • Own subsystem level documentation and analyses, incorporating verification data as it becomes available
  • Ensure timely updates and communication of subsystem level architecture diagrams, schematics
  • Understand and apply systems engineering fundamentals across the development cycle of systems including concept development, requirements, design, analysis, validation, integrations, safety, configuration management, verification, and test
  • Integrate between fluids and propulsion subsystem and overall system level vehicle design, analysis, software, and operations
  • Support the development and execution of component and subsystem tests
  • Tackle a range of Fluids Systems Engineer tasks like leading trade studies, component design/integration, 1st order analysis, and test support
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
  • 3+ years of proven experience in fluids, propulsion, or aerospace systems
  • Experience with fluid/gas components i.e., solenoid valves, directional valves, manifolds, regulators, pumps, pressure vessels and instrumentation
  • Experience with systems engineering principles
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communications skills
  • Ability to earn trust and maintain positive and professional relationships
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Engineering degree
  • Experience driving the verification and validation of component and or subsystem level requirements
  • Experience supporting projects through the full development cycle
  • Experience supporting trade studies to drive design improvements into the fluids and propulsion architecture
  • Exposure seeing fluid components and instrumentation through Acceptance and Qualification test campaigns
  • Spacecraft, space vehicle or launch vehicle fluid systems experience
  • Experience with Hydrogen and Oxygen systems
  • Experience utilizing Jira and Windchill
