Quality Engineer
The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that products meet rigorous quality standards within a certified Quality Management System environment. This position focuses on driving continuous improvement, leading quality initiatives, and supporting manufacturing and production teams through data-driven analysis, root cause investigation, and robust corrective actions. The role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on experience with quality tools and equipment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation that support a certified Quality Management System (such as ISO 9001, TS, or AS9100).
- Plan and conduct quality inspections and audits to verify compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and industry standards.
- Create and manage sampling plans and inspection criteria to ensure consistent product quality and process control.
- Perform root cause analysis and lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
- Apply DMAIC and other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize processes, reduce defects, and enhance overall product quality.
- Develop, maintain, and review FMEA documentation to identify potential failure modes and implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Use statistical analysis tools and quality data reporting to monitor performance, identify trends, and support data-driven decision making.
- Lead quality initiatives across manufacturing and production environments, driving engagement and accountability for quality standards.
- Train and provide direction to quality inspectors and other team members on quality procedures, inspection techniques, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to address quality concerns and support new product or process introductions.
- Utilize measurement and testing equipment, such as gauges, micrometers, and voltmeters, to verify product conformance and support troubleshooting activities.
- Prepare clear, accurate technical reports, quality metrics, and documentation to communicate findings, recommendations, and status updates.
- Support automotive industry projects and large OEM customer requirements by ensuring that quality standards and specifications are consistently met.
- Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously, maintaining strong organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of the Quality Management System by recommending enhancements to procedures, tools, and methodologies.
Essential
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or a closely related field.
- Approximately 3+ years of quality engineering or quality management experience within certified Quality Management System environments (such as ISO 9001, TS, or AS9100).
- Demonstrated experience working in Quality Engineering and QMS environments for 2–5 years.
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
- Strong knowledge of ISO and QMS standards, including ISO 9001, and their application in manufacturing and production settings.
- Hands-on experience with root cause analysis, corrective actions (CAPA), DMAIC, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency with statistical analysis tools and methods used in quality engineering.
- Experience with quality data reporting and interpretation of quality metrics.
- Experience developing and maintaining quality procedures, inspections, audits, sampling plans, and FMEA documentation.
- Ability to lead quality initiatives and provide direction to quality inspectors and other team members.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills in manufacturing and production environments.
- Experience using measurement and testing equipment such as gauges, micrometers, and voltmeters.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and macros, and strong data analysis capabilities.
