Reliable, accurate shipping and receiving operations are critical to maintaining production flow, meeting project schedules, and protecting product quality.
The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is responsible for the accurate receipt, staging, documentation, and outbound preparation of materials and finished components. This role acts as a key connection point between purchasing, production, logistics, and carriers—ensuring materials move safely, efficiently, and traceably through the facility.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail‑driven, safety‑focused, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced manufacturing and yard environment.
Shipping and receiving at Building Blocks Facades is a critical part of delivering complex architectural systems on time and at the highest quality level. The Shipping and Receiving Associate plays a vital role in protecting materials, maintaining flow, and supporting the success of every project that leaves our facility.
Key Responsibilities Receiving Operations- Receive inbound materials, supplies, and components
- Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and delivery documentation
- Identify damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly
- Tag, label, and stage materials correctly for inventory or production use
- Prepare finished components, samples, molds, and materials for outbound shipment
- Stage loads according to shipping schedules and job requirements
- Assist with loading trucks using forklifts, cranes, or material‑handling equipment as applicable
- Verify shipment accuracy prior to release
- Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records
- Ensure proper labeling, identification, and traceability of materials and products
- Coordinate with Operations, Purchasing, and Quality to resolve discrepancies
- Update inventory systems or logs as required
- Support organization and cleanliness of receiving, staging, and yard areas
- Assist with inventory counts and material tracking
- Maintain clear walkways, lanes, and storage zones
- Follow all safety procedures related to material handling, lifting, and equipment use
- Ensure loads are secured, staged safely, and compliant with transport requirements
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or damaged materials
- Support continuous improvement in shipping and receiving practices
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing operations
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment
- Clear communication and teamwork skills
- Associate or Bachelors Degree
- Forklift and/or material‑handling equipment experience (certification a plus)
- Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, precast, or construction‑related environments
- Familiarity with bills of lading, packing slips, and freight documentation
- ERP or inventory system experience (e.g., Odoo)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods
- Comfort working around industrial equipment, outdoor yard areas, and loading zones
- Ability to work in varying temperature and humidity conditions
