Senior Accountant
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, and process improvement initiatives. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, supporting audits and tax reporting, and assisting with daily accounting operations across multiple business units. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries as part of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies to maintain the accuracy of financial records.
- Monitor and maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and construction-in-progress (CIP) activities.
- Process capital expenditure transactions and monitor open capital projects.
- Support payroll accounting by preparing journal entries and recording employee-related adjustments.
- Assist with daily banking activities, including recording transactions and reconciling cash accounts.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Compile financial information to assist with tax reporting and compliance activities.
- Provide backup support for accounts payable, including invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, and vendor master maintenance.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, workflows, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal control procedures.
- Assist with special projects and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
, including general ledger and month-end close responsibilities. - Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with fixed asset accounting, including depreciation and capital project accounting.
- Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with enterprise accounting software is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- CPA license or active CPA candidacy.
- Experience supporting multi-entity accounting environments.
- Previous experience supporting internal or external financial audits.
- Experience in manufacturing, government contracting, or other complex accounting environments.
- Demonstrated experience improving accounting processes and implementing operational efficiencies.
