About the RoleThe Job Developer serves as the bridge between our campus and employers — focusing on employer outreach, not direct student advising. Your mission? Build strong employer partnerships that create real job opportunities for our trade program graduates.
This is a project-based, temporary position , with the potential to become permanent based on performance and business needs — and possibly transition into a Career Services Specialist role.
What You’ll DoEmployer Engagement- Identify and secure entry-level jobs, extern-to-hire opportunities, and self-employment pathways.
- Conduct daily measurable outreach — cold calls, employer site visits, and virtual meetings.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national employers.
- Promote IEC’s educational programs and graduate talent to hiring partners.
- Develop employment strategies aligned with graduate skillsets.
- Build and maintain an active employer and job lead database.
- Collaborate with Career Services teams to share job leads and employer updates.
- Support placement efforts by coordinating opportunities between employers and campuses.
- Partner with community organizations, workforce boards, and industry stakeholders to expand hiring pipelines.
- Track outreach, employer engagement, and placement outcomes.
- Document all activity in CRM systems.
- Use data and feedback to improve outreach strategies.
- Cold calling and employer outreach (yes — this is a big part of the role!)
- Researching employers via platforms like Indeed and Linked In
- Leveraging existing employer leads
- Using the Softphones dialer and CRM tools
- Scheduling Microsoft Teams meetings between employers and campus teams
- Following up consistently to ensure hiring needs are met
This role does not involve direct student advising or interview preparation.
What Makes You a Great Fit- Experience in sales, business development, or workforce development
- Confidence with cold calling and employer negotiations
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Goal-oriented with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets
- Comfortable in a high-volume outreach environment
- Knowledge of trade industries or labor market trends (a plus)
- Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Consistently meeting or exceeding job development goals
- Accountability and ownership of your assigned geographic area
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
- Adaptability in a changing workforce environment
- Professional, positive, and persistent mindset
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Some college or trade school preferred
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and conduct outreach activities
- Strong mental focus, organization, and attention to detail
