The Asphalt Raker works with rakes to level the asphalt mix as it leaves the paving screed, ensuring the surface is ready for rolling.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Perform all duties in alignment with Sunland’s core values.
- Work quickly, productively, and safely to meet production goals set by foreman, superintendent, or production manager.
- Follow daily production schedules and activities.
- Advocate and maintain safety, following policies and procedures.
- Participate in job‑site and safety meetings and required training.
- Ensure the job‑site is safe and traffic is controlled before commencing work.
- Communicate effectively with operators, truck drivers, and general laborers.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment and machinery.
- Report equipment problems or malfunctions to supervisor or shop personnel.
- Set up and tear down equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean job site, picking up all tools and equipment each day.
- Handle materials in compliance with SDS sheets.
- Coordinate with contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors to complete jobs.
- Serve as a front‑line company representative, providing excellent service to the customer and public.
- Use hand tools such as rakes, shovels, wheel barrels, etc.
- Perform additional general laborer work as necessary.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Safety‑sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol policy and OHSA regulations.
- All employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Act as a safety ambassador, complying with federal, state, and local laws and company safety policy.
- Work on construction sites requiring communication, reading printed materials, and stamina to lift up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms.
- Operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, and other tools within safety guidelines.
- Work outside frequently for long periods in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Possible exposure to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, viruses, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles, machines, and dust/debris.
Full‑time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TravelWillingness to travel to any and all job sites without exception.
Minimum Qualifications- A high school diploma or GED preferred.
- Six months to one year of related experience preferred.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English preferred.
- Current driver’s license preferred.
- Clean motor‑vehicle record if operating a company vehicle.
- Pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening and background check.
