SummaryThe Construction Manager works with key stakeholders and supports Project Managers to deliver excellence for our clients. The role is primarily managerial, focused on oversight of project execution, stakeholder relationships, and team leadership. It includes planning, compliance, and client interface responsibilities while supporting the Project Superintendent on site.
Responsibilities- HSQE:
- Lead safety meetings and All Hands meetings, as required.
- Conduct analysis on HSE compliance shortfalls and explain findings.
- Pro‑actively manage site quality management plan with the Quality team.
- Accountable for implementation of Inspection and Test Plan at site.
- Collaborate with the Quality team to compile project Lessons Learned.
- Ensure project Job Books are complete and meet client and internal requirements.
- Ensure environmental permit requirements are adhered to at site.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure that the project utilizes SMS, QMS, EMS, and technical procedures.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Provide excellence in project delivery in line with client expectations.
- Strengthen and maintain client relationships.
- Act as first point of contact for Client Representatives on site in absence of the Project Manager.
- Planning:
- Assist with managing the project plan and participate in kick‑off and close‑out meetings.
- Manage construction permits necessary for project inception.
- Assist with budgeting, cost forecasting, procurement, and material management.
- Prioritize and manage execution tasks based on the project execution plan and delivery objectives.
- Participate in weekly execution discussions with the Project Manager and site team.
- Develop Level 3 schedule and review the 3‑week look‑ahead schedule with the Project Superintendent and Operations team.
- Approve project schedule updates and material purchases per the approved DOA.
- Approve invoices for services and goods after confirming receipt.
- Obtain timely responses and closeout of site‑generated RFIs from engineering and the client.
- Budget:
- Analyze EAC assessment relative to labor and equipment, identify cost improvement opportunities, and ensure alignment with budget and project execution plan.
- Understand budget assumptions and drivers, proposing means to manage and improve costs.
- Contract:
- Maintain a complete understanding of all contractual obligations and document variances.
- Assist Project Manager and Project Controls in raising client notifications on time.
- Collaborate to develop Change Orders and understand contractual requirements for change approval.
- Provide site documents for client‑driven changes beyond RES control.
- Subcontracts:
- Work with Project Manager and Procurement teams to generate and negotiate Scope of Work and special subcontract terms.
- Understand all subcontracts, including terms, scope, schedule, deliverables, credit rules, payments, and completion requirements.
- Manage subcontractors’ performance on site and obtain status updates and progress reports timely.
- Collaborate with Project Controls in subcontractor commercial management.
- Review and approve vendor and subcontractor invoices in alignment with progress and purchase order terms.
- Reporting:
- Oversee daily tracking of work and decision‑making for actions required to meet schedule.
- Verify accuracy of daily status and progress reports of construction on site.
- Manage weekly status and progress reports of construction on site.
- Provide weekly updates on the project schedule based on client requests.
- Work closely with vendors to obtain status updates on material procurements and deliveries.
- Assist with building and utility permits and follow up with jurisdictions for inspections.
- Create weekly and monthly reports sent to company management and the client.
- Standard Practices:
- Operate a company vehicle safely in all conditions.
