Lead the pre construction estimating department, overseeing cost, labor, and material forecasting to secure bids. Manage the bidding process, review complex proposals, identify risks, and ensure competitive and profitable projects. Provide mentorship and guidance to estimators while promoting a collaborative and high performance culture

Primary duties & responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of estimators, assign tasks, provide training, and review work for accuracy
  • Oversee the full bidding cycle including analysis of plans, specifications, and proposal documents
  • Analyze risks, identify constraints, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Coordinate preparation of detailed takeoffs including labor, material, and equipment costs
  • Utilize estimating software to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, owners, and design teams on scope and feasibility
  • Maintain and update historical cost databases and benchmarking data
  • Build relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Participate in industry and community networking to enhance company presence
  • Follow safety policies and perform additional duties as required
Skills & knowledge:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with focus on mentoring
  • Deep understanding of construction methods, material pricing, and labor rates
  • Knowledge of civil, electrical, and underground construction principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Experience with estimating tools such as Bluebeam, Accubid, and Bid2

Education, qualifications, & experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of construction estimating experience with industrial project exposure
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field preferred
Working conditions:
  • Primarily office based with occasional site visits
  • May require local or remote travel including overnight stays
  • Standard business hours with potential evenings and weekends to meet deadlines
Physical requirements:
  • Frequent talking, hearing, and visual tasks
  • Frequent use of hands for tools and equipment
  • Regular standing, walking, sitting, and reaching
  • Occasional lifting up to 20 to 50 pounds
  • Regular computer or tablet use
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills for reporting and documentation
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
