The Estimator role at EASTSEW is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Mesa, AZ. This role is responsible for reviewing plans, specifications, and project documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for underground construction, utilities, and telecom infrastructure projects. Day‑to‑day tasks include quantity takeoffs, pricing labor, materials, and equipment, obtaining and evaluating subcontractor and vendor quotes, and preparing detailed proposals and bid packages.
The Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, field supervisors, and leadership to refine scopes of work, identify cost‑saving opportunities, and ensure estimates align with company standards and client expectations. This position also supports budget development, change order pricing, and ongoing cost analysis to help maintain project profitability and schedule adherence.
- Demonstrated experience estimating in heavy civil, underground utilities, or telecom infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with construction estimating software and tools, as well as Microsoft Excel and other office applications.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in takeoffs and costing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, civil plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with project teams, vendors, and clients.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
- Understanding of construction means and methods, labor productivity, and equipment utilization in underground work.
- Previous experience in estimating or project coordination within construction is preferred.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field is beneficial; equivalent experience will be considered.
