Construction Estimator - Mesa, AZ

My client is a leading general contractor recognized as a Top Place to Work by The Arizona Republic, a Best Place to Work by the Phoenix Business Journal, and a Best of Arizona Business general contractor. They are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to develop accurate, competitive project budgets and support preconstruction efforts from concept through bid. This role partners closely with owners, architects, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure successful project planning.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction document estimates.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope, risks, and opportunities.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed estimates and bid-day documentation.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and reconcile subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Coordinate bid-day activities, pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
  • Support negotiated projects, value engineering, milestone estimates, and GMP proposals.
  • Prepare subcontract scopes of work and evaluate project risk, pricing, labor, and market conditions.
  • Coordinate project handoff to Accounting and Operations and participate in post-project cost reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers while helping improve estimating processes and tools.
Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of commercial construction estimating or preconstruction experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience preparing estimates throughout multiple phases of design; conceptual estimating is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, building systems, subcontractor scopes, and project documentation.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff (or similar estimating software), Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
