Music Director

Out of their deep and authentic relationship with Jesus, Generation Church’s Music Director will help the Worship Pastor in managing musical expectations across its campuses and venues. The Music Director will manage any and all resources needed to plan and execute weekend services. From an instrument, they will ensure a high level of musical excellence from the band with whom they are playing as well as help coach and guide a variety of contracted and volunteer Music Directors to do the same at other campuses and venues.

• Has a history of successful volunteer team leadership, including recruitment.
• Has an ability to lead, organize, supervise, and develop people.
• Has an ability to effectively lead and engage a band and communicate effectively.
• Has physical ability to play their instrument with a high level of energy.
• Can give and receive critical feedback with poise and maturity.
• Can submit to the vision of the Worship Pastor and other Generation Church Leadership.
• Enjoys fast-paced ministry work environments that are constantly changing and growing (Adaptable).

• Possesses unimpeachable character. Lives a godly life above reproach and exemplifies a Spirit-filled relationship with the Lord.

• An indisputable “hard worker.” The type of person who gets the job done. A first-to-arrive and last-to-leave type by nature.
• Lives out and protects the culture and values of Generation Church.

• Fill instrument roles at needed services.
• Accurately prepare chord charts.
• Accurately prepare Ableton sessions.
• Help add creativity to the set that is possible with varying levels of musicianship.
• Clearly set and maintain a level of musical excellence across the ministry.
• Run rehearsals.
• Work with the Production Department to execute an excellent service.
• Direct bands for weekend services, special events, and necessary auxiliary services.
• Facilitate a culture of growth for volunteer teams.
• Create and foster relationships with members of the volunteer team.
• Develop, manage, and adhere to an annual budget.
• Create setlists.
• Manage multiple venues Multi Tracks accounts.
• Manage multiple venues Ableton licenses.
• Distribute Ableton files to needed venues.

• Deep and authentic relationships with Jesus Christ.
• Alignment with Generation Church’s Core Beliefs with an understanding of primary and secondary issues.
• Theologic competency as it applies to this role and level of spiritual leadership.
• 3+ years of Music Direction.
• Professional level of musical instrument performance.
• Ability to communicate musical ideas effectively.
• Ability to communicate music in “The Nashville Numbers System.”
• Working ability to use Planning Center Online, Master Tracks, Ableton, MacOS, iOS, Google Docs, and Slack.
• History of successfully managing a budget.
• Manage CCLI and other relevant licensing necessary to the function of a church service.
