Instructional Svc Coord-Math Success Coord

Identify students who are academically at-risk for failing or withdrawing from their mathematics course using Dropout Detective, instructor and staff referrals, and other analytics and create a path for students to successfully complete their math course. Refer students to college resources that would assist them in persistence and academic success. Work with the Math Department, Learning Enhancement Center, collaborate with area high schools to assist in preparing students to transition to the community college, and other college resources to improve math retention and success rates.

Participate on college and department committees that are working to improve student success and decrease student withdrawal and repetition rates.

Essential Functions

25% - Uses Dropout Detective, faculty referrals, and other tools to identify students at-risk for failing or withdrawing from their mathematics course. Establishes and maintains records pertaining to students at-risk in their math course, weekly student contact, referrals given to students, and follow-up inquiries on students.

25% - Contacts students via email, telephone, or in person to encourage success in their mathematics courses. Sets up catch-up plans for students who are behind in their assignments or who need to improve their grades. Refers students to college resources to improve retention and completion of mathematics courses.

30% - Works collaboratively with math faculty, Learning Enhancement Center, area High Schools, and other college resources to assist all students, but especially "at-risk" students. Attends weekly meetings with math faculty and/or department chair. Serves students in person at the Southern and Dobson and the Red Mountain campuses. Serves students virtually as needed. Participates on necessary committees.

10% - Collects, organizes, and disseminates various data (daily, weekly, monthly and semesterly).

10% - Performs other duties as assigned.
