  • Other Compensation: Performance pay available annually; $500 new‑hire incentive per full‑time year of certified teaching or equivalent experience; $65 per hour of graduate‑level credits (up to 45 hrs for BA, 60 hrs for MA, $1,000 for advanced degrees); annual stipend $3,150 for other certified Special Education positions or $7,875 for Autism, Emotional Disability, SHARP or MCS locations.
Job Summary

The classroom teacher will lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential by translating district curriculum standards into meaningful learning experiences through classroom instruction and special area assignments. The teacher is responsible for maintaining a positive and appropriate educational environment and creating a program that meets students’ intellectual and emotional needs.

Candidate must complete an online application requiring appropriate Arizona certification, a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, evidence of highly qualified status, three letters of recommendation, and a transcript of credits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional and management techniques.
  • Consider individual learning needs and district objectives when planning lessons, materials, and assessments.
  • Use district‑adopted textbooks and curriculum guides in instruction.
  • Incorporate higher‑level thinking strategies and real‑life applications into lesson planning.
  • Create instructional materials and assessment documents aligned with learning objectives.
  • Employ technology or instructional media to enhance learning experiences.
  • Continuously collect student achievement data and use it to inform instruction and management decisions.
  • Administer positive classroom and campus management in accordance with board policies.
  • Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student based on assessment data.
  • Create lesson or implementation plans consistent with IEP goals and objectives.
  • Adjust subject matter and instructional techniques to meet modified learning outcomes specified on the IEP.
  • Establish positive relationships with students and maintain open communication with parents about academic and behavioral progress.
  • Collaborate with parents, school personnel, related service staff, and other agencies to provide appropriate education.
  • Maintain student records related to achievement, attendance, and discipline.
  • Provide a positive and safe environment conducive to learning.
  • Support school goals and help resolve school concerns.
  • Communicate expectations of success for all students.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, appropriate for subject area.
  • Coursework in foundations of special education, behavior management techniques, assessment and evaluation methods, instructional strategies for students with disabilities, and inclusive teaching practices.
