Job Summary:
To maintain accurate and reliable information about student records and files in a computerized system in order to retrieve and convey information to appropriate parties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Extensive telephone contact with parents and general public
* Work closely and cooperatively with teachers and counselors; with special education department and teachers regarding scheduling; and counselors regarding schedule changes
* Record grades, Arizona reading, math and writing requirements and credits for ninth graders on permanent record cards
* Compile weekly enrollment reports
* Implement the registration process of new students and withdrawal of all students
* Maintain boundary exception forms
* Keep appropriate records and complete required reports
* Train and supervise registration assistant
* Regular and on-time attendance required
* Perform general clerical tasks
* Request for and receive transcripts
* Assist attendance clerk when needed
* Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
* High School education or equivalent
* Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc); experience with district based student database Synergy

* Moderate proficiency in typing with good accuracy; excellent test battery; excellent knowledge and usage of English grammar; high math aptitude
* Ability to operate general office machines and equipment
* Knowledge of school policies; public school experience preferred
* Ability to organize, to prioritize, to use initiative and to meet deadlines with an accurate attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions and minimum supervision
* Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with students, teachers, parents, district personnel and general public; to be tactful and diplomatic at all times; to maintain confidentiality
Work Environment &
Physical Requirements:
* The registrar works primarily in the administrative office of a junior high school
* Typically follows the school's schedule (e.g., 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM), with occasional overtime during peak enrollment or reporting periods
* Daily interaction with students, parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
* Moderate Stress:
May experience stress during busy times such as registration, end of grading periods, or student transfers
* Sitting for extended periods
* Filing paperwork (requires bending, reaching, lifting up to 25 lbs)
