Responsibilities

Incumbent will create and maintain a safe, positive learning environment to ensure the holistic development of each student and staff member through cultural, social, spiritual, physical, and academic experiences. Incumbent will support the Bureau of Indian Education’s mission, which is to provide high‑quality educational opportunities from early childhood through life while considering a tribe’s need for cultural and economic well‑being.

LOCAL (HAVASUPAI RESIDENTS ONLY)

• Level 02
  : HS or GED diploma and three years of experience. Experience as an Education Aid in a classroom is creditable. A substitute of
  
  Education:
  
  60 semester hours of undergraduate coursework may be substituted for 2 years of experience required for Level 02.
• Level 03
  :
  Bachelor’s degree and valid State certification as a Teacher (Elementary) or Substitute Teacher. State certification must be maintained as a condition of employment.

• The work is mostly in a classroom setting but includes playground and field‑trip duties, requiring considerable walking, standing, and bending while working with individuals or groups of students in various instructional projects.
• Good distant vision in one eye and ability to read printed material without strain (glasses permitted). Printed material contains typewritten characters.
• Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, is required, except that some positions may be suitable for persons who are blind or deaf.
• An amputation of arm, hand, leg, or foot will not disqualify an applicant for an appointment, although it may be necessary that this condition be compensated by use of satisfactory prosthesis.
• Applicant must possess mental and emotional stability.

State certification as a Teacher or Substitute Teacher is required.
