Base Rate: $16.56 per hour
Performance Pay:
Available annually
New hire experience: 1% of base hourly rate for each year of verified similar experience, up to a ten‑year maximum.
New hire education: 1% of base hourly rate for an Associate’s Degree or higher if not required.

Assist certified teachers and specialists in monitoring and instruction of special education students implementing Individual Education Plans. Support students in academic, daily living, and health care activities, and relieve teachers of routine clerical duties.
QUALIFICATIONS- Associate’s Degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire OR pass the Para Pro Test provided by the district.
- Ability and willingness to work with special education students requiring specialized instruction to meet academic, social, and behavior goals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work well with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work well in stressful situations.
- Computer proficiency with basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and follow classroom guidelines set by the teacher.
- Deliver classroom work, homework, and reinforce classroom objectives under teacher’s direction.
- Assist in the development of instructional materials and maintenance of classroom.
- Collect data on academic and behavior goals as instructed.
- Implement positive behavior intervention plans for students displaying challenging behaviors.
- Respond to problem behaviors according to the student’s positive behavior intervention plan and district crisis intervention policy.
- Transfer or lift non‑ambulatory students to assist them in daily activities.
- Assist students with personal hygiene and daily living activities, including those with severe medical or physical limitations.
- Accompany students during campus transitions.
- Monitor individual or small student groups in classroom and on the playground to maintain a safe and positive learning environment; facilitate social peer interactions.
- Maintain classroom and student equipment to ensure safety.
- Model professional, safe, responsible, and respectful behavior.
- Perform general clerical tasks to support the teacher in maintaining student files and providing classroom materials.
- Participate in meetings to share information and improve skills and knowledge.
- Maintain regular and on‑time attendance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Assist other personnel as required to support completion of their work activities.
- May lift, pull, push or carry; may stand for prolonged periods; may move light‑weight furniture; may be exposed to outdoor elements; may require strength to push/pull 30–35 lbs.
- Physical demands may require assistance from other personnel.
