General Education Teacher – OverviewAs a General Education Teacher, you will have the opportunity to change lives through education as you motivate students to achieve academic excellence. You will provide direct instruction using an accelerated, back-to-basics curriculum including Spalding (reading & writing) and EnVision Math as you:
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
- Utilize direct instruction techniques to guide our students through a variety of activities designed to promote the social, physical and intellectual growth that is needed for primary school success.
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and propose plans for improvement.
- Maintain effective and efficient record‑keeping procedures.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
- Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
- Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
- Participate in training and staff meetings.
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and coordinating meetings as needed.
- Evaluate each student’s learning capabilities and celebrate student accomplishments.
- Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.
- Be active in the role when light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required; participate in events outside of normal hours.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- AZ only – valid SEI Endorsement/Certification or ability to obtain.
- NV only – valid teacher certification.
- Must pass a criminal history background check.
- A current teaching certificate from within the state.
- Travel between campuses required from time to time.
- Position requires lifting objects up to 25 pounds on occasion.
- May require sitting for long periods, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
- Local and in-state travel required.
