JOB TITLE: Adult Education Instructor, Hourly

REPORTS TO: Site Principal, Community Education

Hourly Rate: $39.49 Instructional

Performance Pay: Available annually

Class/Calendar: Certified Hourly, 180 workdays

Application Requirements: Candidates must complete an on‑line application which requires appropriate Arizona certification, valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card, evidence of highly qualified status, three letters of recommendation, and transcript of credits.

OVERVIEW: The Adult Education Instructor is a teacher assigned to work with adults who enroll in Adult Education Classes. This position will teach English language or GED preparation classes to adults. Mornings and/or evenings.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current Arizona teaching certificate (Adult Education)
  • Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in effective reading instructional strategies
  • Experience using effective strategies for instructing diverse learners
  • Effective communication, planning, organization, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain accurate record‑keeping processes for reporting purposes
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective professional relationships with school administrators and staff, district personnel at all levels; ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently without constant supervision
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials
  • Plan, prepare, and implement instructional activities that actively engage students in meaningful learning experiences appropriate to their maturity and interests using a variety of effective instructional and management techniques
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students
  • Create instructional materials and assessment documents that align with learning objectives and delivery of instruction
  • Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, etc and effectively communicate objectives to students
  • Diagnose the learning strengths and weaknesses of students on a regular basis; utilize district specialists as deemed appropriate
  • Provide a positive and safe environment that is conducive to learning
  • Communicate an expectation of success for all students and provide constructive and detailed feedback to help students achieve academic success
  • Establish positive relationships and maintain open lines of communication with students concerning academic progress
  • Establish, support, and administer positive classroom and campus management in accordance with board policies and administrative regulations
  • Establish and maintain effective and efficient record‑keeping procedures to ensure complete and accurate records as required by district, state and federal guidelines and regulations
  • Utilize the collection of student data to make instructional and management decisions to enhance student achievement
  • Demonstrate gains in student performance
  • Collaborate with other professionals to enhance the instructional environment; be an effective team member
  • Meet deadlines, adhere to schedules, and coordinate resources in an effective and timely manner
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Exhibit professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by administration
