Job SummaryMonitor the activities of students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground to provide for the safety and welfare of students and to communicate observations and incidents that may impact student well‑being.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor the activities of students in the cafeteria and/or on the playground
- Counsel and/or intervene with students to ensure acceptable behavior
- Report observations and incidents relating to students to appropriate school personnel
- Respond to emergency situations to address immediate safety concerns
- Assist students during lunchtime
- Perform routine cleaning tasks (clean up spills on tables, floors, etc.)
- Must have regular and on‑time attendance
- Perform additional related duties, as assigned, to ensure efficient functioning of the work unit
- Assist with other duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
- High school education or equivalent required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Experience working with and/or supervising children
- Models the attributes and skills of the MPS Portrait of a Graduate
- Demonstrates commitment to the MPS Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career and community
- Must be able to manage small groups of children
- Must work well with students, staff, and parents
- Must enforce school and district rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Must communicate effectively (verbal and written) with students, parents, and staff
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pulling, running, and/or throwing
- Must push/pull up to 10 lbs and lift/carry up to 10 lbs.
- Must stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and/or crawl as required
- Must use upper extremities for reaching, handling, fingering, and feeling
- Must speak, hear, see, and meet mandatory visual and hearing demands
- Must stand and walk continuously
- Must tolerate exposure to extreme temperatures, heat, wetness, or humidity
