Certified Special Education Teacher (26/27 School Year) – Mesa East Valley Campus (K-3rd Grade)
The Certified Special Education Teacher will effectively manage a caseload of students while preparing lesson plans, instructing students, evaluating and monitoring students’ performance, and advancing student achievement in the environment. The teacher should have experience differentiating instruction for a variety of learners and work collaboratively with a team to plan and support instruction in accordance with students’ IEP goals. Teachers should demonstrate a commitment to professional development through didactic workshops and classroom coaching.
Candidates should have a passion for students on the spectrum and a willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies.
- Engaged in the oversight of staff and student caseload
- Provided instructional support for students enrolled in the on-site school
- Provide daily feedback to paraprofessionals and behavior specialists
- Professional development for staff on modifications and implementation
- Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
- Ongoing Student and Parent Communication
- Modification of materials for classrooms as needed
- Structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
- Staff communication/feedback
- Maintain substitute plans in case of the Lead Instructor's absence
- Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
- Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study
- Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for caseload and attend all required student meetings
- Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
- Celebrates students' achievements and successes.
- Consistent, regular attendance is a key requirement for this position.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Experience managing and teaching a caseload of students with disabilities
- At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred
