The RN Clinical Education Specialist will train onboarding with Banner's Education team, support Banner Mesa Corporate and Banner Estrella Medical Center, and contribute to educational programs that enhance patient outcomes and clinical proficiency.

Work Location:

Banner Mesa Corporate; some travel to Banner Estrella Medical Center. Shift: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours/week. Certs/Licensure:
Current RN licensure in the state of practice. BLS certification required. Candidate must have 3–5 years acute care experience and a minimum of a BSN.

Responsibilities
  • Position Summary:

    Enhance clinical practice by planning, developing, and conducting education for clinicians, providers, and other key clinical staff within the assigned facility/entity; evaluate program effectiveness and provide guidance based on results.
  • Design and deliver programs aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals; implement using the organization’s framework for professional clinical practice and development.
  • Develop and implement processes for onboarding and ongoing staff education; assess ongoing learning needs and identify opportunities for staff development.
  • Coordinate curriculum development, educational materials, and services at the department/facility/regional level; incorporate evidence-based practice and adult learning principles; utilize multiple modalities and technology.
  • Oversee orientation of new hires and transferring staff from classroom to clinical areas; ensure access to requisite clinical and educational programs.
  • Lead and evaluate educational programs; ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards (e.g., ANCC) and maintain appropriate documentation for continuing education activities when acting as Nurse Planner.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness using perceptual feedback, knowledge testing, and skills assessments; track outcomes and provide feedback to leadership; adjust programs to improve learning and outcomes.
  • Participate in committees and teams to research new clinical and educational programs; collaborate on implementation of new practice initiatives and evidence-based practice.
  • May provide input on annual budget for clinical educational programs.
  • Ensure accountability for achieving clinical and technical competencies and workforce development across assigned facility/entity; provide leadership to support curriculum design and delivery; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Qualifications
    • Minimum Qualifications:

      Master’s degree in Nursing or related field required. If functioning as a Nurse Planner, BSN or higher in nursing is required and a current, unencumbered nursing license. Current RN licensure in state of practice. BLS certification required. Three to five years of work experience in a specialty area or related field, or equivalent experience as an education coordinator/instructor in a healthcare environment.

      Working knowledge of ancillary and support department responsibilities. Excellent presentation, facilitation, and computer technology skills; strong organization and communication; ability to take initiative, solve problems, and improve processes.
    • Additional requirements:

      Employees working in behavioral health settings may need an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit (as applicable at hire).
    • Preferred Qualifications:

      Professional certification in a specialty area. Two or more years in a role focused on design and delivery of learning programs for adult learners. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
