Job Summary:
The Pathways Coach is a master teacher and district liaison between the Pathways Department and school sites. The coach supports the Path2
Teach Program through planning, development and facilitation of professional learning aligned to program outcomes and ADE certification requirements. The coach supports Path2
Teach Program teachers through coaching and support for job-embedded professional learning. The coach ensures implementation of state standards and district curriculum, pedagogy, and supports district and site improvement plans. The coach cultivates knowledge and understanding of the evaluation framework as a tool for improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Builds strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches
* Advocates for the unique needs of the Path2
Teach program participants
* Provides Path2
Teach participants with district approved resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning
* Models lessons, whisper coaches, guides observations of other teachers and uses other strategies to provide comprehensive coaching support on a weekly/monthly basis
* Communicates with site administrators, coaches and other stakeholders to ensure alignment of program support with school goals and priorities
* Assists Path2
Teach participants in designing standards-aligned lesson plans that meet the needs of a variety of learners
* Applies coaching cycles to provide personalized, job-embedded professional learning that supports instruction, classroom environment, and effective pedagogy
* Assists Path2
Teach participants in documentation of growth and outcomes aligned with program goals and teacher certification requirements
* Collaborates to develop and facilitate professional learning aligned with program requirements aligned to teacher certification
* Utilizes adult learning theory to motivate adult learners to improve their professional practice
* Supports other induction teachers through coaching cycles as needed
* Contributes to the development of systems and structures to improve teacher practice within the Path2
Teach program
* Attends summer, fall break, and spring break training sessions for Path2
Teach participants
* Increases and enhances own professional knowledge, skills, and expertise about effective instruction, school improvement, and specific school programs
* Exhibits professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor
* Performs other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the work unit
* Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in education
* Valid State of Arizona teaching certificate
* Three years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred
* Instructional coaching experience with knowledge of diverse coaching tools, stances and strategies that result in building capacity in others to impact student learning

* Evidence of proficiency with technology including presentation equipment, learning management systems, tools and programs, and willingness to use technology innovatively and integrated into facilitation of professional learning and coaching cycles
* Knowledge of current learning models in schools (teaming model, competencies, deeper and personalized learning, etc.)
Work Environment &
Physical Requirements:
* May have a designated office or workspace but spend much of their time in classrooms or professional development sessions
* Regular interaction with teachers, administrators, and staff is key, often involving meetings, training sessions, and one-on-one coaching
