Salary: $55,886 per year (prorated 20 hours/week)

Job Overview

The ELD Itinerant Teacher serves as the district teacher for English Language Learners (ELLs). The teacher provides English vocabulary, grammar, and conversation instruction and implements the English Language Proficiency Standards, the Discrete Skills Inventory, and district curriculum. The position reports directly to the site principal and the ELAD department.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize district/state‑adopted material and curriculum guides in instructional planning and implementation.
  • Continuously and accurately collect student achievement data using a variety of tools (assessments, projects, checklists, anecdotal records, portfolios, etc.) and use this information to make instructional and management decisions that positively impact student achievement.
  • Establish positive relationships with classroom teachers and parents.
  • Maintain open lines of communication.
  • Attend and participate in professional development.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to maintain a flexible schedule.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate with other ELD Itinerant teachers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Valid Arizona teaching certificate.
  • Current IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
  • Elementary or secondary English certification (grades 7‑12).
  • SEI, ESL or Bilingual endorsement.
  • Knowledge of second‑language acquisition.
  • Knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective professional relationships with teachers, administrators, parents, and students.
