** Position Overview Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.
AMS is seeking a passionate and dedicated
** Kindergarten Teacher
** to join our team at the
** AMS Mesa Campus
** for the 2026–2027 school year.
The Kindergarten Teacher plays a critical role in helping scholars build strong foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development. The ideal candidate will create a structured and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning while ensuring students develop the academic skills needed for long-term success.
AMS teachers are collaborative professionals who believe that all scholars can achieve at high levels through structured instruction, strong classroom culture, and data-informed teaching practices.
** Key Responsibilities
**** Instruction & Student Achievement
*** Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction aligned with AMS curriculum and Arizona academic standards.
* Build strong foundational skills in early literacy, phonics, writing, and mathematics.
* Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and student interventions.
* Differentiate instruction to support students performing above and below grade level.
* Implement engaging instructional strategies that promote student participation, exploration, and early critical thinking skills.
** Classroom Culture & Student Development
*** Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
* Implement PBIS and proactive classroom management strategies.
* Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
* Foster a classroom culture that promotes kindness, responsibility, and a love of learning.
** Collaboration & Professional Growth
*** Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities (PLCs).
* Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices.
* Contribute to school-wide systems and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Engage in ongoing professional learning aligned with AMS instructional priorities.
** Family Engagement
*** Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
* Conduct parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home–school partnerships.
* Support family engagement initiatives that promote student success.
** Minimum Qualifications
** Candidates must meet
** one of the following requirements**:
* ** Bachelor’s degree in Education or Early Childhood Education
** OR
* ** Valid Arizona teaching certification
** in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education OR
* ** Minimum of three (3) years of K–12 teaching experience
** Additionally, candidates must:
* Demonstrate strong classroom management and instructional planning skills
* Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
* Show commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities
* Demonstrate a data-driven approach to instruction and student support
* Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment
