Role Description

The Special Education Para educator is a full-time, on-site role located in Mesa, AZ. This position supports students with disabilities in classroom, small group, and one-on-one settings under the direction of certified special education teachers. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with instructional activities, reinforcing academic and social skills, and helping implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The para educator helps with behavior support, provides accommodations and modifications, and assists with personal care needs as appropriate.

Additional duties include monitoring student safety, maintaining accurate records, collaborating with classroom staff and related service providers, and communicating with caregivers as directed by the supervising teacher.

Qualifications
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills to collaborate with students, educators, caregivers, and support staff.
  • Experience Working With Children in educational or childcare settings, preferably in diverse and inclusive classrooms.
  • Knowledge of Special Education practices, including support for students with a range of disabilities and implementation of IEPs.
  • Behavior Management skills to help implement positive behavior supports and maintain a safe, respectful learning environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; post‑secondary coursework in education, special education, or related fields is preferred.
  • Ability to follow teacher and administrator directions, adapt to changing student needs, and work as part of a collaborative team.
  • Physical ability to assist students with mobility, transitions, and classroom activities as required by the position.
  • Completion of background checks and any district‑required certifications or training prior to employment.
