Middle School SMART Lab Teacher

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Instructing and demonstrating lessons in assigned areas using the Board of Education's course of study and other learning activities.
• Teaching citizenship and basic subjects as specified by state law and school district regulations.
• Developing lesson plans and instructional materials, providing individualized and small group instruction to adapt curriculum to pupil needs.
• Transforming lesson plans into effective learning experiences to optimize instructional time.
• Establishing and maintaining pupil behavior standards to ensure a functional learning environment.
• Evaluating pupils' academic and social growth, maintaining records, and preparing progress reports.
• Communicating with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil progress and interpret the school program.
• Collaborating with professional staff to assess and address pupil health, attitude, and learning challenges.
• Creating an effective learning environment with functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
• Maintaining professional competence through district in-service education and self-selected growth activities.
• Participating with administrators in teacher evaluation methods per district guidelines.
• Selecting and requisitioning books and instructional aids, maintaining inventory records.
• Supervising pupils during out-of-classroom activities within the assigned working day.
• Administering group-standardized tests according to district testing programs.
• Participating in curriculum development programs and faculty committees, and sponsoring pupil activities.
• Ensuring continuing learning for all students and utilizing Accelerated Schools methods.

The company is looking for candidates who meet the following requirements:

• Arizona Department of Education State Certification including:
• Elementary teaching certificate.
• Passing scores on the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment (AEPA) for elementary professional, subject knowledge, and early childhood professional knowledge (early childhood endorsement required for K-3).
• Bilingual or ESL endorsement or Structured English Immersion (SEI).
• Fingerprint card.
• Federal Highly Qualified requirements including:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Valid Arizona State Certification.
• Advanced degree or National Board Certification in the core academic subject area, or at least 24 credit hours in the core academic subject area, or a minimum of 100 points on the AZ HOUSEE rubric for the core academic subject.
• Passing the Arizona Educator’s Proficiency Assessment Subject Knowledge Test.
• Related elementary teaching experience.
• Alternative qualifications acceptable to the Board may be considered.
