Energy Environmental Group (EEG) is seeking a mid-level GIS Specialist with 3–5 years of experience to support our transmission line construction and environmental teams. This position will assist with the development and maintenance of GIS databases, ArcGIS Online web maps and applications, variance development and tracking, and mapping for transmission line projects. Experience with transmission line infrastructure and environmental mapping is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities- Perform GIS data management and produce high-quality mapping for transmission lines and associated infrastructure.
- Manage environmental GIS data and map deliverables in support of permitting, sensitive species analysis, and biological field operations.
- Work independently or with minimal supervision from senior GIS staff.
- Provide input into the design and development of cartographic products, geodatabases, GIS tools, and applications.
- Identify and resolve database conflicts, data inconsistencies, layer corruption, coordinate system issues, and third-party data integration challenges.
- Use Python, Arcade, and other scripting languages to develop, automate, and optimize GIS workflows, data management, and spatial analysis.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, biological teams, and vendors to ensure accurate and effective use of GIS data and processes.
- Three (3) years of progressive experience in a role requiring extensive use of GIS and related tools.
- Strong proficiency with Esri ArcGIS software and extensions (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst).
- Demonstrated cartographic and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with GIS staff and multidisciplinary teams.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of ArcGIS Online and applications, including Dashboards, Survey
123 Connect, Field Maps Designer, and Quick Capture. - Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Arcade, SQL, or similar.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Certificate in Geographic Information Science is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to obtain FAA Part 107 UAS certification to support drone operations associated with transmission line construction.
- Interest in continued professional development and obtaining future GIS certifications (e.g., GISP, Esri technical certifications).
- Experience in the electric utility or transmission infrastructure industry is a plus.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000
