Position: HVAC Test Technician (40/hr)

Job Title:

Test Technician HVAC Tester $35/hr to $40/hr Job Description

Perform HVAC test operations at high efficiency, contributing to the planning and execution of engineering projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic to moderately complex technical tasks for engineering projects.
  • Operate, inspect, and maintain chillers, test setups, and equipment.
  • Work with electrical equipment, including 460-3-60 machinery, and manage HVAC operations and refrigerant handling.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment to measure pressure, temperature, flow, and electrical measurements.
  • Select, connect, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems on manufactured equipment.
  • Conduct loop calibration and configure valves for single/double loop configurations.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and calibrate power management systems, VFDs, boilers, and valves.
  • Coach team members, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and report issues to drive resolution.
  • Advocate for a safe workspace, implement 5S, and champion the company's EHS policy.
  • Support lab uptime by reporting instrument failures and enhancing preventive maintenance.
  • Collect and report test status, apply and teach measurement techniques, and write test reports.
  • Resolve testing hurdles in consultation with development and other relevant process partners.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • NFPA Certification
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC/Chiller operations or laboratory environment for mechanical/electrical machinery.
  • Experience with hand/pneumatic tools, advanced shop mathematics, and precision measuring instruments.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • AS or AAS in a related technical field, Technical/Business School Certificate, or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship.
  • Proven ability to independently run chillers, report results, and expertise in loop tuning and drive test cycle/loop efficiency.
  • Technical expertise in HVAC design and components.
  • Understanding of closed-loop control systems and loop stability.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Experience with medium voltage operations, including arc flash and lockout/tagout procedures.

Environment

The role requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch, and climb a portable ladder. The use of Personal Protection Equipment is required, and good manual dexterity and multi‑limb coordination are necessary.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
