The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Phantom Works Vertical Lift division seeks an experienced Configuration Design Engineer to lead programs focused on next‑generation technologies for legacy and advanced vertical lift platforms.
Position Responsibilities- Possess a broad multi-disciplinary engineering knowledge with an emphasis on aerospace/aeronautical disciplines such as aerodynamics, propulsion, orbital mechanics, structures, materials, weight and balance, systems, human factors, interfaces, mission systems, survivability, and systems engineering.
- Possess the ability to visualize in 3D and have a strong CAD background (Siemens NX and/or CATIA V5 preferred).
- Background in systems engineering and assistance in systems engineering trades and design studies to understand the impact of requirements on design, cost, weight, schedule, performance and other engineering disciplines.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform multi-disciplinary trade studies to evaluate configuration alternatives for functional and spatial integration.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex vehicles and systems from multiple perspectives, apply figures of merit and integrated optimization tools.
- Highly flexible individual with the ability to adapt to a wide variety of assignments, teams, and organizations.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or a non‑US equivalent qualification directly related to the work statement.
- 5 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
- 3+ years of experience in Air Vehicle design or systems integration of air vehicle design.
- Experience with design and development on rapid development or prototyping.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
- Experience with 3D modeling tools such as Solid Works, Creo, CATIA, NX.
- Experience with drawing, reading and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) of complex mechanical systems.
- Ability to obtain Special Program Access; U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience with vertical lift systems.
- Analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
- Actively seeks learning opportunities.
- Experience with advanced surfacing and parametric design (desirable but not required).
- Familiarity with configuration/data management tools (IPDM, Teamcenter), design of experiments and multi-disciplinary design/analysis/optimization processes and tools such as MATLAB, Model Center, etc.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance/SSBI.

CompensationPay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $112,200 - $151,800.
