Responsibilities

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Senior Plant Engineer will apply technical expertise to support plant operations, partner with multifunctional teams, and optimize performance and longevity.

  • Monitor plant performance and heat balance for continual output and efficiency improvements.
  • Review, understand, apply, and develop internal engineering guidelines, procedures, and standards at the site level in coordination with corporate engineering teams.
  • Contribute to project planning and execution through all phases, including front‑end input and post‑implementation support.
  • Work collaboratively with corporate engineering team members and build strong relationships with other work groups to integrate sound asset engineering practices into day‑to‑day and long‑term efforts.
  • Act as site NERC Compliance Officer, reporting and interfacing with the Capital Power Compliance Team and external stakeholders.
  • Own the Management of Change program at the site level.
  • Provide O&M feedback to the engineering group to advance effective solutions to facility issues.
  • Evaluate the economic benefits of proposed technical solutions and recommend alternatives.
  • Recommend and implement safe and effective engineering solutions related to plant emissions, control systems, equipment failure, and equipment optimization.
  • Improve technical and management skill set through formal and informal training opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Completed engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Process, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years in an operating plant setting.
  • Advanced understanding of pressure piping and vessel design, maintenance, and compliance to codes and standards, and/or rotating equipment and related engineering/technical knowledge (vibration, lube, thermography).
  • Thorough understanding of maintenance processes, methods, and techniques applicable to industrial power‑plant systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Pre‑employment drug test clearance and compliance with the Fit For Duty program.
