The City of Mesa is seeking Civil Engineers and Senior Civil Engineers for upcoming vacancies in the Development Services, Engineering, and Water Resources Departments. These positions will assist in establishing a Citywide list to fill future vacancies.

Under general supervision, a Civil Engineer performs professional civil engineering work including design layout and plan review. The role may also involve supervising technical or paraprofessional Engineering staff. This class provides opportunity for independent judgment in the design, management, and review of projects within Development Services, Engineering, and Water Resources.

Under general supervision, performs advanced responsible professional engineering work. The Senior Civil Engineer directs and reviews work performed by lower‑level professionals and technicians. Assignments are broad, requiring independent judgment and technical decision‑making of considerable difficulty. The position may specialize in fields such as storm drainage, sewer and water, roadways, special improvement districts, construction administration, etc., acting as the City’s technical expert in that field.

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a closely related field.
• Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the state of Arizona (required for Senior Civil Engineer).

• Valid Class D Arizona Driver’s License by hire or promotion date.
• For Senior Civil Engineer, registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in Arizona required within six months of hire.

• Six months to one year of civil engineering experience (desirable).
• Certification as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) desirable.
• Six months of supervisory experience preferred (Senior Civil Engineer).
