Job Overview
As Chief Engineer, you will provide operational leadership for the engineering team, ensuring machinery and systems operate safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively while achieving 100% uptime through reliability‑based maintenance practices. You will implement equipment inspection and monitoring programs, define maintenance best practices, and continuously evaluate operations to enhance effectiveness and maximize performance.
Responsibilities- Supervise engineers and maintenance staff.
- Manage contractor activities.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain all infrastructure documentation.
- Develop and maintain inventory of tools and supplies, including purchase orders and stock sourcing.
- Identify safety hazards and manage safety training programs.
- Oversee contractor activities and ensure the Critical Facility Work Authorization (CFWA) process is understood.
- Maintain up‑to‑date building drawings and regulatory mandated records.
- Monitor operation and maintain refrigeration, water cooling, air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating and ventilating systems, pumps, valves, piping, and other mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Oversee HVAC repair and preventive maintenance programs.
- Hire, train, develop and instill professionalism in engineers and maintenance staff.
- Perform periodic checks of inventory levels and equipment conditions.
- Incorporate remediation to maintain a safe environment for staff and occupants.
- Implement safety training programs and ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines.
- 7+ years of facilities‑related work experience with 5+ years in a leadership/managerial capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes and understanding of construction planning and execution.
- Exposure to HVAC, fluid handling/pumping, fluid filtering, mechanical systems, welding, and electrical systems engineering and operation.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service.
- Associate’s Degree in an Engineering discipline.
- Universal Technician certification for CFC’s (or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment).
- Operating Engineers license (SMA) or equivalent.
