Position Overview
This role will work at one of our data center campuses in Phoenix, AZ. We are looking for a Lead Critical Facilities Engineer who delivers best‑in‑class service and manages a team of electrical and mechanical engineers performing maintenance and repair for data center infrastructure. The candidate will ensure high uptime and maintain facilities to a very high standard.
Essential Job Functions- Coordinate work efforts and tasks to ensure seamless operations on shift and between all shifts
- Serve as primary escalation point for on‑shift CFEs
- Assign tasking to on‑shift CFEs
- Drive high‑level task/project completion
- Support, create, review MOP/SOP/EOPs for critical work efforts
- Work under limited supervision, both independently and within a team environment
- Manage multiple one‑time and/or ongoing projects
- Respond to safety and emergency situations and maintain a safe and secure work environment
- Use discretion and judgment in organizing workflow and adapting priorities as the environment changes
- Maintain frequent contact with employees at all levels and external vendors
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
- Operate, perform maintenance and service repairs on critical systems (UPS, PDU, diesel generators, ATS equipment, building controls, chillers, CRAH, etc.)
- Develop reliability reports to ensure availability and capacity targets are achieved with 100% uptime
- Coordinate and oversee maintenance vendors to ensure safety and maintain power to critical loads
- Create required MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs to ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance
- Minimum 8 years (10+ preferred) of hands‑on experience with maintenance and repair of industrial electrical and mechanical systems in mission‑critical facilities, including generators, fuel delivery systems, parallel switch gear, MV/LV switch gear, PDUs, UPS, switch gear, HVAC, air handling units and building monitoring/control systems.
- Knowledge of commercial building blueprints, electrical single‑line diagrams and schematics.
- Experience with operating, maintaining, repairing, inspecting and testing critical electrical distribution systems, HVAC, and building management equipment.
- Technical writing skills and experience creating, coordinating, updating, and modifying MOPs/SOPs/EOPs.
- Strong emphasis on technical skills/training; intent to obtain a license within a reasonable time.
- May be required to complete formal training in a specialty area (e.g., UPS maintenance).
- Reliable transportation for work shifts and emergencies; travel less than 5% of the time.
- Successful background check required.
