Overview

The Boeing Company is seeking a motivated collaborative Materials & Process Composites Engineer to join our Composite Materials Fabrication Site in Mesa, Arizona. This role will work independently and in teams, applying knowledge of materials and processes across engineering and manufacturing disciplines.

What You’ll Do
  • Apply chemistry, physics, and material science to develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods.
  • Provide technical evaluation and material and process support to composite part fabrication.
  • Perform root‑cause investigations and implement corrective & preventive actions for material and process issues.
  • Create and execute test plans, write reports, and input to specifications for materials, tools, and processes.
  • Qualify and approve equipment, materials and processes.
  • Guide material testing in the Materials & Process Laboratory.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
  • Travel to suppliers as needed.
  • Integrate new technologies and promote standardization across product lines.
  • Manage test/audit programs, ensure regulatory and contractual compliance, and incorporate EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles into your work.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • Current Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or directly related qualifications.
  • 1+ years of experience in engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in material science and engineering.
  • 2+ years related work experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5+ years related work experience or equivalent combination (Masters level).
  • Possess a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • 1+ years experience working with composites and elastomers and associated processing techniques.
  • Experience working in an engineering or scientific lab and associated polymer chemistry analytical techniques.
  • Experience with materials such as epoxy, cyanate ester, bismaleimide, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, etc. and processes.
  • Experience with composite and elastomer failure modes (structural and nonstructural) and analysis for materials, processes and parts.
  • Experienced reading drawings and using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.).
Education / Experience Levels
  • Level 2:
    Typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g., Bachelor) and 2+ years of related work experience or equivalent.
  • Level 3:
    Typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g., Bachelor) and 5+ years of related work experience or equivalent.

Security Clearance:
Requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required). Final U.S. Secret Clearance post‑start is required.

Travel:
Travel to suppliers as needed.

Relocation:
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay & Benefits

Summary Pay Range level 2: $91,800 – $124,200
Summary Pay Range level 3: $112,200 – $151,800
