Composites Materials And Processes Engineer - 2nd Shift
A hands-on materials and processes engineer is sought to join a composite materials fabrication site. This role involves shaping advanced aerospace platforms by working at the intersection of the lab, factory, and design. The position is suitable for a motivated and collaborative engineer, either early-career or experienced, with a passion for composites, polymer chemistry, failure analysis, and production problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods.
- Provide technical evaluation and material and process support to composite part fabrication.
- Perform root-cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions for material and process issues.
- Create and execute test plans, write reports, and provide input to specifications for materials, tools, and processes.
- Qualify and approve equipment, materials, and processes.
- Guide material testing in the Materials & Processes Laboratory.
- Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement.
- Integrate new technologies and promote standardization across product lines.
- Manage test and audit programs, ensuring regulatory and contractual compliance.
- This role is a full-time, 2nd shift position and is 100% onsite.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- A Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience or a Master's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years working with composites, elastomers, and associated processing techniques.
- Hands-on lab experience with polymer chemistry analytical techniques.
- Familiarity with materials such as epoxy, cyanate ester, bismaleimide, urethane, polyimide, reinforcements, and adhesives.
- Experience with composite failure modes (structural and nonstructural) and failure analysis.
- Experience in creating technical specifications, reports, and test plans.
- Comfortable reading engineering drawings and using Microsoft Office.
- Experience in creating and delivering technical presentations and briefings.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment
