AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability and safety of colocation data centers by working with business teams and vendors to identify, document, and resolve operational/design deficiencies across the site’s capabilities.
Key Job Responsibilities- Collaborate with the control team of DCE Colocation Design and Standards (CoDeS) to develop and implement new and existing standards.
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for Controls for new Colo Data Centers in the region to ensure consistent standards across Colocation Data Centers and AWS owned sites.
- Review and identify risks within the scope of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for in‑flight AWS Colo Data Centers.
- Review automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams, controls logic programming, and graphical user interface to identify risks.
- Approve proposed changes to the site‑specific control infrastructure against AWS Data Center standards, documenting accepted deviations when appropriate.
- Review Colo and Hybrid controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to design.
- Support design for existing Colo Data Center control system upgrades and design solutions to add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
- Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures related to control equipment.
- Conduct site audits of Colo Data Centers, producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation.
- Support construction, commissioning, and turnover for Controls for any new construction projects.
- Lead internal team training and knowledge sharing sessions on Colo controls.
- Improve controls‑related processes, including quick reference guides for the team.
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil and gas).
- 4+ years of commissioning experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
- Experience coordinating projects with multiple teams or vendors.
- Professional Engineer license.
- Experience with building codes and regional regulations.
- Experience moving design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment to mass production.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with design, configuration, or servicing of products such as Siemens Apogee, Honeywell Building Controls, Schneider Electric Power Logic/Struxureware, Rockwell Automation Factory Talk, Tridium Niagara, Eaton Foreseer, ABB C953, Johnson Controls Metasys.
Base Salary: $ – $ USD annually (Mesa, AZ and Tampa, AZ). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location and may include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
