Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for an Entry Level Industrial Engineer to join our team in Mesa, AZ. At Boeing, Industrial Engineers are leaders in innovation, development, evaluation, and implementation of methods and systems that support complex manufacturing processes. This team plays a critical role in designing, stabilizing, improving, and transforming production systems to achieve world-class operational excellence for some of the world's most sophisticated aircraft and defense platforms.
You will support a collaborative environment with multi-disciplinary teams that take pride in developing, integrating, testing, and delivering innovative solutions. This role supports Apache Helicopter production within Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS). Candidates will work on low-volume assembly for large-scale platforms, ensuring precision and efficiency in a dynamic environment.
Position Responsibilities:
- Applies basic industrial engineering concepts, approaches and techniques to product, process and services to meet program requirements.
- Supports the development of plant and equipment layouts, capacity plans, accident prevention measures, sequencing operations and work flows.
- Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and technological developments for integration into the production process and service operations.
- Assists with designing, maintaining, and optimizing the production system by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel.
- Conducts basic work flow design and analysis.
- Develops simple models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to leaders.
- Supports research, design, develop, improve, and implementation of processes and tools to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.
- Supports implementation plans and programs for facility/factory modifications and revisions to operating methods.
- Documents product assembly instructions and standardizes assembly practices. Supports the preparation of operations plans, includes work statement analysis, budgeting and forecasts, capacity and constraint analysis and production change, to ensure technical goals and objectives are met.
- Supports execution planning by using project management, planning and scheduling and shop load practices.
- Provides production, supply chain logistics, performance visibility and recovery planning support.
- Follows compliance requirements with established industry safety, design standards and ergonomic guidelines.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- Industrial Engineering or similar experience (Production/Manufacturing Engineering).
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with low-volume assembly on large-scale platforms (rotorcraft, military aircraft, or similar).
- Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma.
- Discrete Event Simulation Software (Simio, Pro Model).
- Constraint-Based Scheduling Software (Aurora, PBE, MS Project).
- Job Scheduling and Sequencing.
- Level 1:
Typically 0-2 years of related experience
Typical
Education:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor), or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
