Headfarmer is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Controller to lead the financial management of a growing general contractor. This role combines hands‑on financial operations with project managers and overseeing a strong accounting team.

, creating an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on finance professional to help support continued growth.
This role will work closely with the CFO and ownership group to drive financial performance, maintain strong operational controls, and provide strategic insight to support the company’s expansion.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee core accounting functions including job costing, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, insurance audits, and work‑in‑process (WIP) accounting
. - Maintain job cost systems and partner with the Project Management team to ensure accurate billing, timely collections, and proper documentation of accounts receivable.
- Lead the month‑end close process
, including oversight of the general ledger and financial reporting. - Prepare monthly financial statements and a quarterly comprehensive financial reporting package
, including detailed management discussion and analysis. - Drive monthly financial reviews with leadership, ensuring project and financial metrics are tracked against initial estimates to identify trends and potential risks.
- Develop and implement strong internal controls and financial processes to safeguard company assets and support best practices.
- Build and maintain financial models to support strategic decision‑making and growth initiatives.
- Partner closely with the CFO and ownership group to help optimize capital structure and support the company’s strategic direction.
- Manage relationships with the company’s banking partners and external financing sources
. - Oversee cash management
, including daily cash monitoring, forecasting, cash receipts/disbursements, and financial covenant compliance. - Coordinate the annual audit and tax filings with the company’s external CPA firm.
- Work with internal managers and advisors to oversee insurance, workers’ compensation, employee benefits, and union communications

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
. - High level of integrity, accountability, and results orientation
. - Strong problem‑solving skills and sound business judgment
. - Excellent organizational, analytical, and management capabilities
. - Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Sage Intacct and Procore preferred.
- Advanced experience with accounting and financial systems

- Construction industry experience required
, including percentage‑of‑completion accounting
. - CPA preferred
. - 8–10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
. - MBA or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
.
