There are currently two vacancies in the Industrial Pretreatment assignment, to be filled at either Level I or Level II.
Job Title and LevelWater Resources Environmental Compliance Inspector I (Level I) – Salary: $57,975.63 – $84,314.26 annually.
Water Resources Environmental Compliance Inspector II (Level II) – Salary: $60,903.44 – $88,572.85 annually.
Job SummaryBoth positions are part of the Industrial Pretreatment assignment and are responsible for inspection, monitoring, and compliance management of industrial and commercial establishments to protect public health and support regulatory activities.
Responsibilities- Maintain compliance with state, federal, county, and local regulations and protect the health and safety of the city’s citizens, employees, water distribution system, and publicly owned treatment works.
- Sample, inspect, and monitor industrial and commercial establishments for compliance with city code and ordinances.
- Support regulatory activities for Industrial Pretreatment programs.
- Complete and submit detailed inspection reports to regulatory agencies (Inspector II).
- Serve as a technical resource and provide guidance to lower‑level inspectors (Inspector II).
- Respond to frequent emergency call‑outs and be available for scheduled standby and overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three‑year technical experience in water resources or equivalent education (Inspector I).
- Five‑year experience or an associate’s degree in a related field (Inspector II).
- College‑level coursework in environmental, physical, or biological science may substitute for required work experience.
- Valid Class D Arizona driver’s license by hire or promotion date.
- Grade I operator certification in Wastewater Treatment or Collections by hire date.
- Forty‑hour Haz Woper certification within one year of hire.
- Pass medical evaluation and obtain tight‑fitting respirator certification (for Industrial Pretreatment) within one year of hire.
Individuals shall be subject to pre‑employment or pre‑placement alcohol, drug, and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in city policy and procedures.
