East Valley Surgery Center is a small outpatient surgery center with a close knit clinical team. We have two ORs and 1 Procedure Room. Specialties include ENT, Ortho, Endoscopy, Ophthalmology, Urology, General Surgery, and Gynecology.

This position will work two 8-10 hour shifts per week on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday. The center is closed on Tuesdays, Fridays and the weekends/holidays.

• Assists to perform room turnovers in accordance with established procedure and department requirements/standards as part of procedural team.
• Participates in a variety of surgical cases by assisting surgeons at the surgical field.
• Prepares and sets up operating room for surgical procedures and organizes sterile areas, instruments, and equipment in accordance with established procedure, department, and physician requirements and standards.
• Handles and cares for specific instrumentation to prevent breakage and damage.
• Reviews requirements of patient, physician, and procedure idiosyncrasies to assess set up, equipment, and supply needs.
• Communicates with procedural team to provide for thorough preparedness.
• Seeks guidance from appropriate source for performing or assisting with procedures as needed based on level of personal expertise.
• Handles and labels all specimens.
• Suggests and assists update and maintain physician preference cards.
• Participates in re‑stocking, re‑supplying, and cleaning of all operating rooms, specialty carts, and sterile core to provide for efficient, effective, and safe department operations.
• Serves as preceptor to students and orients regarding functions, duties, and role of Surgical Technician.
• Completes Surgical Tech Specialty career ladder checklist annually.
• Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

• High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
• Completion of a Surgical Technician program or equivalent combination of post‑secondary education and experience (Required)

• One year as a Surgical Tech Certified at PC or equivalent at a previous organization (Required)
• Five years Scrub Technician experience in an inpatient/outpatient surgery setting or equivalent (Required)
• Experience with pediatric patient populations (Preferred)
• Experience in a related leadership role (Preferred)

• None (Required)

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Tech in Surgery Certified from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) (Required)
• BLS certification (Required)

• Certified Surgical Technician OR National Center for Competency Test (Required)
• Basic Life Support (Required)
