Overview

Community Bridges, Inc. (CBI) is an integrated behavioral healthcare agency offering residential, outpatient, inpatient, patient‑centered medical homes, medication‑assisted treatment, and crisis services to individuals experiencing opioid use disorder, homelessness, and mental illness across Arizona.

Job Summary

The Patient Services Specialist is responsible for the front‑end business operations for the assigned clinic, including patient registration, verification of demographic information, creating and maintaining patient electronic charts, answering incoming calls, routing as needed, and scheduling intake appointments within established time frames in the CBI EHR/EPM scheduling system. The role also obtains necessary demographic information, completes insurance verifications for each patient visit, identifies patient amounts due, and, for uninsured patients, evaluates potential funding sources and identifies those eligible for AHCCCS, referring them to the eligibility and enrollment specialist.

The specialist notifies a clinical team member when registration is completed and schedules follow‑up appointments as indicated by the clinical team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform patient registration and verify patient demographic information.
  • Create and maintain patient electronic charts.
  • Answer incoming calls and route inquiries appropriately.
  • Schedule intake appointments within established time frames using CBI EHR/EPM system.
  • Obtain demographic and insurance information for each visit.
  • Complete insurance verifications and identify amounts due.
  • Identify potential funding sources for uninsured patients.
  • Determine eligibility for AHCCCS and refer patients to the enrollment specialist.
  • Notify clinical team when registration is completed.
  • Schedule follow‑up appointments as indicated by the clinical team.
Skills & Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in business or healthcare preferred.
  • One to three years of experience with insurance verification and/or front desk experience in a medical office setting preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of AHCCCS, insurance, and strong customer service skills required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
