Position Summary

Transporter at Banner Health in Mesa, AZ. The role is part of the Patient Transport department within the Clinical Care Operations team. This day shift position supports patient flow throughout the facility.

8:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. Self‑scheduling with 3 weekend shifts per month and rotating holiday shifts. Weekend shifts earn a flat rate of $1 per hour, night shifts an 18% differential, and holidays are in a holiday bucket.

• Transport patients safely and efficiently between departments using proper transfer techniques and isolation/infection control procedures; validate patient identity and monitor patient condition.
• Assist with patient handling and lifting using appropriate safety equipment.
• Provide distribution services of requested items between departments, including medications when necessary.
• Respond promptly to all job calls, using the computer system to track and update requests and communicate status to clinical staff.
• Collect, clean, and disinfect patient care equipment and other reusable items.
• Perform supply restocking or clerical duties as needed.
• Operate a golf cart to provide distribution services, if required.
• Transport deceased persons to the facility morgue, if required.
• Deliver services with a strong focus on customer service to staff, physicians, patients, family members, and visitors.

• BLS certification required (AHA curriculum guidelines).
• Interpersonal skills for direct patient contact; ability to interpret verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively.
• Basic computer, organizational, and problem‑solving skills; ability to work with minimal direction in a fast‑paced environment.
• Possible valid driver’s license and eligibility for auto insurance coverage if required by facility.

  Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit upon hire.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Six months of previous healthcare or customer‑service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
