Job Summary
The Director of Respite Operations is part of a dynamic team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about providing high quality, integrated care for patients who are experiencing or at risk for homelessness.
The Director of Respite Operations directs the day-to-day operations of the medical respite center and is accountable for its successful operation, including the achievement of financial targets, clinical quality goals, employee engagement, and patient satisfaction. In partnership with the respite operational and medical leadership team, the Director of Respite Operations ensures the respite center regularly achieves the triple aim of providing efficient, effective, and patient-centered healthcare.
Key Responsibilities- Leads a diverse team of licensed nurses, administrative staff, and clinical support staff including respite assistants, transportation, and dietary services.
- Conducts and evaluates mandatory annual skills competencies for all clinical team members such as the licensed practical nurses and registered nurses.
- Offer clinical direction, mentorship, and support for licensed nurses in complex care situations.
- Ensures all licensed nurses have up to date, valid licensure and credentials.
- Maintain documentation and compliance to be prepared for surveys to be conducted by regulatory agencies.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains staff as growth or vacancy occurs.
- Conducts regular performance management duties including regular one-on-one updates with staff, team meetings, coaching, 90-day and annual evaluations, and performance improvement plans as needed.
- Manages work schedules for assigned staff that adhere to approved budgetary guidelines, minimizing dependence on overtime and/or other premium labor, flexes staff as per staffing matrix procedure.
- Oversee the preparation, submission, and approval of timecards for assigned staff. Ensures financial stewardship through effective inventory, management, and purchase of medical supplies including medications.
- Directs the day-to-day flow of the medical respite center, ensuring that the tasks and duties of assigned staff are completed timely, professionally, and accurately.
- Actively contributes to regular process improvement work groups to identify areas of opportunity and implement sustainable change.
- Oversees scheduling and flow for admissions and discharges.
- Responds to provider requests to investigate and solve problematic operational areas.
- Directs the team to ensure adherence to the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) licensing and other regulatory compliance standards.
- Prepares and distributes reports and statistical data as requested by the Senior Director of Respite Operations & the Circle the City leadership team.
- Represents as a champion for all agency goals related to the Medical Respite Center including patient, employee, and financial outcomes.
- Partners with Human Resources representatives to implement schedules and curriculum for initial and ongoing staff training and development, including recruitment and retention strategies.
- Adheres to agency guidelines regarding timely completion of assigned duties including but not limited to incident reporting and performance evaluations and competencies.
