We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly reliable Data Center Technician to manage and support the daily operations of our data center in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, dedication to maintaining uptime, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The technician will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and infrastructure, ensuring optimal data center performance.
Key Responsibilities Data Center Operations & Infrastructure Management- Ensure data center organization, security, and compliance with industry best practices.
- Rack, install, maintain, and decommission servers, networking gear, and power systems (lifting up to 70 lbs regularly).
- Conduct hardware inspections, firmware updates, preventive maintenance, and repairs.
- Monitor data center capacity, power usage, and cooling efficiency to optimize operations.
- Track and maintain server fleet health to ensure continuous uptime and performance.
- Collaborate with network, storage, and systems teams to deploy and support hardware solutions.
- Maintain accurate inventory and asset tracking records for all physical equipment, consumables, and spare parts.
- Install, terminate, and test fiber optic (single-mode/multi-mode) and Cat6/Cat6a network cables.
- Perform structured cabling, patch panel installations, labeling, and documentation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network connectivity issues using tools such as cable testers, power meters, and fault locators.
- Ensure proper network link connections for new hardware deployments and upgrades.
- Perform power cable routing and distribution within racks, ensuring proper load balancing.
- Respond to service tickets related to hardware failures, network issues, and environmental conditions.
- Diagnose server and infrastructure issues and determine the best course of action (repair vs. replacement).
- Apply BIOS, firmware, and driver updates using approved tools.
- Work closely with vendors and hardware suppliers to coordinate warranty replacements and repairs.
- Document troubleshooting steps, issue resolutions, and system changes for future reference.
- Ability to lift and move up to 70 lbs regularly.
- Work in confined spaces, elevated locations, and noisy environments as needed.
- Stand, walk, bend, and stretch for extended periods (8+ hours per shift).
- Climb ladders and stairs while carrying equipment.
- Work in a climate-controlled yet variable-temperature environment.
- Support on-call, after-hours, weekend, and holiday shifts as required.
- 5-10 years of hands‑on experience in a data center environment.
- Strong understanding of server hardware, networking equipment, and IT infrastructure.
- Experience with Linux CLI and Windows CMD for basic troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of firmware updates, BIOS configurations, RAID setups, and virtualization technologies (VMware preferred).
- Ability to diagnose and repair hardware failures within defined service processes.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with network tools and diagnostic equipment (Fluke testers, OTDRs, power meters).
