The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse and logistics operations within a fast-paced third-party logistics (3PL) environment. This role ensures efficient execution of inbound, outbound, and inventory processes while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service. The Operations Supervisor leads a team of associates, drives performance, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to meet operational and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise daily warehouse operations including receiving, putaway, picking, packing, shipping, and returns
* Lead, train, and motivate a team of warehouse associates to meet productivity and accuracy targets
* Monitor workflow and staffing levels to ensure optimal labor utilization and schedule adherence
* Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and OSHA standards
* Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, order accuracy, on-time shipping, and inventory accuracy
* Identify operational issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective actions in real time
* Support inventory control processes including cycle counts, audits, and discrepancy resolution
* Collaborate with customer service and clients to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality
* Assist in workforce planning, including scheduling, attendance management, and performance evaluations
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment
Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED required;
Bachelor's degree preferred
* 3-5 years of experience in warehouse or logistics operations, preferably in a 3PL environment
* 1-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
* Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and distribution processes
* Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
* Ability to analyze data and make informed operational decisions
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience managing operations for multiple clients in a 3PL setting
* Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
* Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Physical Requirements
* Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
* Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
Work Environment
* Fast-paced warehouse/distribution center environment
* Exposure to moving equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
* Requires strong attention to safety and operational detail
About the Role
How you will contribute
* Plan, coordinate work, train, motivate, monitor and evaluate performance of team members; ensure their ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials.
* Monitor and measure team member performance for accuracy and document on daily production metrics.
* Identify and eliminate safety and housekeeping hazards to minimize workplace accidents.
* Ensure compliance of employees to processes, work instructions, standard work and work elements.
* Liaise with materials department to ensure on time receipt and shipment of material.
* Other duties as assigned.
Your Key Qualifications
* HS Diploma/GED required
* Experience supervising in an Automotive, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain/Logistics facility.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
* Experience and or training regarding the Occupational Health & Safety, 5S, Lean Methodologies preferred.
* Quality systems knowledge - to a reasonable level be able to monitor staff performance and costs within the department (including, but not limited to: time-keeping, quality, productivity, etc.)
