Job Title: Director of Engineering

Job SummaryThe Director of Maintenance oversees the physical plant, engineering assets, and grounds of the hotel. This role manages capital projects, controls repair budgets, and leads the technical team. The primary goal is to ensure a safe, operational, and premium environment for guests and staff through efficient preventive maintenance and rapid emergency response.
Core Responsibilities Facility & Systems Management- Preventive Maintenance: Design and run routine maintenance programs for all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Asset Protection: Oversee the operation and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, refrigeration, and life-safety systems.
- Vendor & Project Oversight: Manage third-party contractors, negotiate service agreements, and supervise capital improvement projects.
- Staff Development: Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate the performance of maintenance technicians and supervisors.
- Work Order Management: Assign tasks and hold the team accountable for closing repair orders quickly and safely.
- Budgeting: Manage the department's operating budget, track monthly expenses, and control inventory costs.
- Energy Management: Monitor utility consumption and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce costs.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain full compliance with local building codes, OSHA, ADA, and fire safety regulations.
- Emergency Preparedness: Lead the building's emergency response plans, including fire alarms, power outages, and extreme weather.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive maintenance management experience, preferably within hospitality or large commercial facilities.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; an associate or bachelor's degree in engineering or facility management is preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Advanced troubleshooting skills across HVAC, commercial plumbing, high-voltage electrical, and automated building management systems (BMS).
- Communication: Exceptional leadership and communication skills to collaborate with corporate leaders and hotel guests.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces or changing weather conditions.
- Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM) or Certified Lodging Chief Engineer (CLCE).
- Specific state or local licenses (e.g., EPA Universal HVAC, CPO pool certification, universal electrical/plumbing licenses).
