This position will be primarily based out of our Mesa I facility located at 4712 S Ellsworth Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212. Though pending business needs could slide to other AZ sites.

Position Description

The Procurement Specialist will execute on SRC’s commitment to provide top quality products, shipped on-time by developing vendors and using internal support systems to bring in the correct materials when needed. The Procurement Specialist will support our engineering staff and customers by obtaining timely quotations for materials used in our proposals and understanding customer specifications when procuring materials. The Procurement Specialist works in a team environment and is expected to collaborate with Sales/Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Quality, and Production team members.

This position reports to the Purchasing Manager.

We are looking for people comfortable and excited to work in a mid-sized organization where hierarchies are limited, gap-filling is routine, and responsibilities come to those that take initiative and support the collective effort.

Responsibilities
  • Procure materials based on demand for specific material categories.
  • Obtain competitive, timely quotations for our engineering team as they develop customer proposals.
  • Support and back-up team members in the materials department.
  • Assist with monthly and year-end inventory.
  • Drive internal material handling and organization practices.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new vendors to maximize the balance between savings, quality, and service of procured items.
  • Assist with the development of technology-based tools for improving the efficiency of the materials procurement and inventory management process.
  • Work with the design team as we seek to simplify and improve the part numbering process and the actual number of individual part numbers we stock.
  • Support our safety culture by following all PPE and safety rules when engaging with the shop floor.
  • Connect with manufacturing stakeholders, particularly our valuable production workforce, to support how items are stored, presented, and accounted for on the shop floor.
  • Ensure purchase materials align with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Problem solve day-to-day manufacturing challenges with production team members.
  • Present and lead through company values.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Assist in minimizing excess inventory, reduce carrying costs, and maximize inventory turnover while ensuring product availability.

Required

  • 3+ years of professional work experience in procurement or manufacturing.
