Job Title: 2nd Shift TIG Welder
Job DescriptionThis position supports a fast-paced, high-volume production line by performing TIG welding on black carbon steel and stainless-steel pipe assemblies. You will weld flanges and elbows, complete full-penetration welds through all phases, and maintain repeatable, high-quality welds while meeting defined cycle time and takt time targets. The role is ideal for welders who enjoy line-driven, repetitive work and can consistently deliver precise welds under time constraints.
Responsibilities- Perform TIG welding on black carbon steel pipe up to 8 inches, including 4-inch pipe assemblies and carbon steel to stainless-steel welds.
- Weld elbows and flanges that connect to compressors, ensuring strong, clean, and consistent joints.
- Complete welds through all three welding phases: root pass, fill pass, and cover cap.
- Properly prepare materials for welding, including grinding, beveling, and cleaning to ensure weld-ready surfaces.
- Set up and operate TIG welding equipment, including wire-fed machines, in accordance with production specifications.
- Maintain consistent weld quality while working on a moving production line with a strong focus on takt time and cycle time.
- Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures at all times.
- Work efficiently in a line-driven, repetitive production environment rather than a custom or job-shop setting.
- Collaborate with production team members to meet daily output and quality goals.
- Participate in and successfully complete weld tests, including black steel welds, as part of the qualification process.
- Proven TIG welding experience with black carbon steel.
- Proven TIG welding experience with stainless steel.
- Demonstrated ability to weld dissimilar metals, specifically carbon steel to stainless steel.
- Extensive and recent experience with steel welding, including successful completion of weld tests.
- Strong understanding of pipe preparation, including grinding, beveling, and fit-up for flanges and elbows.
- Proficiency in performing root, fill, and cap weld techniques to production standards.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently without sacrificing weld quality.
- Understanding of takt time and cycle time within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Experience working on or alongside a moving production line in a high-speed, production-focused setting.
- Ability to perform TIG welding using a wire-fed machine.
- Capability to handle repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and consistency.
Skills & Qualifications
- Comfort working in a non-custom, non-job-shop welding environment focused on repeatable processes.
- Ability to adapt to a line-driven workflow and maintain quality under time constraints.
- Willingness to train initially on first shift before transitioning to second shift.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
