Product and Process Quality Technician

Quality Management (Full Time, Professionals | Experienced)

Job Overview

This role supports daily quality functions of Receiving Inspection, Calibration and Metrology and works with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Create inspection plans.
  • Inspect purchased parts, assemblies, accessories and materials for conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices.
  • Approve or reject items and record inspection and disposition information.
  • Create green tags and release product in SAP.
  • Create red tags, generate MRRs and utilize SAP to reflect rejected disposition of product.
  • Responsible for PPAP part retention for inflators.
  • Coordinate sample disposition with layout requesters (scrap or retain for analysis), and maintain areas clean and organized.
  • Use various tools to calibrate electrical, mechanical, and electronic instruments and equipment; ensure devices meet established standards and produce reliable results.
  • Determine if instruments and equipment are performing within established ranges; analyze test data to determine need for calibration, repair or maintenance.
  • Ensure instruments and equipment meet performance and quality standards; use systems and software to track, schedule and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Contribute to the repair of instruments, equipment and control systems.
  • Document service through reports and other paperwork; prepare calibration certificates, data reports and written recommendations for department heads and upper management.
  • Maintain flow and organization of the area.
  • Participate in MSAs (Measurement System Analysis).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required;
    Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of work experience in a high volume-manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • At least 3 years experience in a quality related function.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Measurement skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Familiar with different units of the International System of Units (meter, kilogram, second, ampere, etc.) and able to calculate and convert derived units.
  • Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) programming.
  • Mathematical knowledge including fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions.
  • Troubleshooting capability to determine reasons why measurements and results are out of expected range.
  • Analytical ability to analyze raw data, extract key information and draw logical conclusions.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, mistake proofing and technical documentation.
  • Good communication and computer skills.
  • Proficient in Indy Soft Software.
  • ASQ Certification in a Technical Field such as CQT or other applicable certifications preferred.
Physical Requirements

Must have hand dexterity at moderate speed, steady active effort and continuous walking; must be able to lift 40 lbs and perform frequent heavy physical effort.
